Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery

Whenever traveling anywhere near Manali, Kullu or Manikaran in Himachal Pradesh, North India, you should not miss calling on Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery at Naggar- Kullu. It is a wonderful place for art lovers, you can also have a peep into history and beauty of this place. The journey from Manali to Naggar which is almost25km in itself is rewarding and this art gallery would be the icing on the cake. This is a historic place where bonds of Indo-Russian friendship were strengthened and a universal declaration was adopted to achieve world peace through cultural exchanges. The paintings of the Himalayas by the great master of art Mr. Nicholas Roerich are superb. The memorial of Svetoslav (younger son) and Devika Rani takes you back to the formative years of Indian cinema. There are much more things to see in the serene environs of the Roerich Estate.

Viceregal Lodge Shimla

The Viceregal Lodge is located on the Observatory Hills of Shimla Himachal Pradesh, India. It was formerly the residence of the British Viceroy of India. It houses some of the most ancient articles and photographs going back to the times of the British rule in India. The Viceregal Lodge also known as Rashtrapati Niwas was designed by British architect Henry Irwin and built in the Jacobethan style during the regime of Lord Dufferin. Its construction started in 1880 and was completed in 1888. Lord Dufferin was the first to occupy the lodge in the year 1888. As it was used as the summer capital only so the Viceregal Lodge was of a little use only hence Dr S. Radhakrishnan thought of using the Viceregal Lodge for academic use. It was transferred to the Ministry of Education to be handed over to The Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. Many historic decisions have been taken in the building during the Indian Independence Movement. The Simla Conference was held here in 1945. The decision to carve out Pakistan and East Pakistan from India was also taken here in 1947. The building has a beautiful structure and its beautiful and well-maintained lawns add to the beauty and uniqueness of the Viceregal Lodge.

Paragliding at Bir-Billing (Kangra)

Paragliding at Bir-Billing in Himachal is a fun-filled activity and is a must do while you are in Himachal. Bir-Billing is a beautiful and Scenic place and the best paragliding site in the country and perhaps in the world also. After hosting paragliding world Cup by the Paragliding World Cup Association, France successfully in the year 2015 it has become a well-known site in the world.

 Bir Billing is a small village surrounded by big mountains famous for Paragliding in Himachal Pradesh It is known for Hang gliding and paragliding both , which serves as a landing ground for para-gliders. Bir-Billing in the Dauladhar mountain range is known as one of the finest aero sports sites in the world.

Paragliding at Bir-Billing is popular among both Indian and foreigners pilots. Best flying season in the region is September to November but almost open all over the year depending on the weather. State Govt. continues to host International level competitions and events.

White-Water Rafting at Kullu-Manali

River- rafting in Manali is managed and offered by private operators at Pirdi near Kullu where a water sports center has been set up to provide the rafting services in Manali for the tourists. Rafting in Manali is available on stretches of the River Beas, where rapids of high grades can be negotiated. Rafting in Kullu- Manali provides exhilarating moments for enjoying the adventure of water rafting. whereas, kayaking is possible at Pandoh Dam on the way to Mandi. Water rafting in Kullu Manali is done on river Beas from Pirdi (4 km ahead of Kullu town) down to Jhiri, on a stretch of approximately 14 km (During Apr. 15th to June end). The journey takes nearly one & half hour consisting of rapids from grade II & III. Rafting in Kullu Manali begins at around 10 o’ clock in the morning at Pirdi. Pirdi is 45 km from Manali and hence, recommended starting time from Manali is 8 o’clock. This activity will require your one full day.

Hiking and Trekking
